Is this cute or what?

Great Weekend

Wow. I am so happy with how this last weekend went. It was such a wonderful, fun filled way to learn so much. I showed so many dogs and learned how to show them correctly.

Monday the judge loved the pups. I think Gunnar still took BB, Destiny BO, but this time Stormy for Best of Winners!! That gives her a 3 point Major!! I got a Major for my dog!!! We did so well!! Andrew for Winner's dog. Now he has 7 points and a Major under his belt. Raven and I even had an awesome view of the adults gaiting from the center of the show ring. That was my favorite part. It is really sweet to see them all move. A great opportunity to see what the judges see.

Since Stormy won in the puppy class, she got to continue on to puppy groups. Sarah took her in as she is the better handler at this point. Someday I will be a super smooth, excellent handler. Stormy wins third in puppy groups. I am in the judge picture already changed in comfortable clothes.

Tuesday was awesome too. Khan took Winner's dog which gave him a 3 point Major as well. :) I wanted that prize so bad. I listened to all advise and did the best I could to show him off. He behaved so well and I was so excited. When we won, I was ecstatic. Stormy could feel it so she was jumping around the ring. I was having a hard time showing her and the audience had a great time watching us. I was just so happy for Khan's win. :)

Next week, Yakima!

Spokane Show Update

Stormy and Khan are doing really well. Simon beat Khan today for Reserve Winner's Dog but stormy again took Reserve Winner's Bitch. :) I'm learning a lot about showing. It's definitely not as easy as they make it look. The dogs really have to be trained and so does the handler. I'm such a novice but I'm really learning a lot. Actually, I'm learning it all more like a crash course.

In the past two days I've also helped showing Simon and Andrew for my breeder, Sarah. That has really been a blast and a huge learning experience. Sarah has 4 dogs to show and Raven and I have been showing for her. Andrew is fairly easy and Simon is a whole lot of dog to handle. Today he would not do anything I asked. We didn't work together at all prior to the show. Ok, so not only was Simon a butt, Andrew decides to relieve himself in the ring. Thankfully I was showing next to Raven and in my panic she held Andrew while I grabbed some paper towels to clean the mess he had made. :) Fun times in the ring today. I'll load some vids soon.

Stormy hurt her tail so Sarah advised an Epsom Salt dip. I filled up the laundry sink where we were staying and let her soak in it. She loved it. She looked so relaxed. Made me want to draw a bath too. I will soak in Epsom Salt soon. :)

Check her out in her short vid. She's such a cutie pie. She has really turned out well so far. She was so timid when I first got her that I was worried she wouldn't come out of it but she's totally great and so relaxed! She totally trust us and she's just so awesome.

Stormy's Spa Treatment

Here are some pics of her spa treatment:

Show results were dominated by West Star pups. For Saturday, Destiny won Best of Breed and Gunner was Best of Opposite. Destiny is a Maggie grand daughter, Khan and Stormy's niece. Andrew won Best of Winners and Katrina too Winner's Bitch. Andrew and Katrina are full brother to Khan and Storm. Gunnar is half brother to them on their mom's side. By the way, Gunnar is now #6 GSP Male in USA, and #16 overall. Khan took Reserve Winner's Dog and Stormy took Reserve Winner's Bitch.

Sunday results are as follows. Gunnar for Best of Breed then Destiny for Best of Opposite. Andrew was Best of Winner and Katrina Winner's Bitch. Khan lost to Simon for Reserve Winner's Dog but Stormy still took Reserve Winner's Bitch. Simon is full brother to Gunnar. I handled Andrew both days and he now has 4 points total with Katrina close behind him with two points. Reserve doesn't get points unless the winners are found to be disqualified but Reserve is a good sign. Stormy and Khan are doing well. :)

Spokane Show Day one

There I am, nervous for the Spokane and Idaho dog show. We are almost on our way!

We got a late start as I was really scared of leaving my house and forgetting something but finally, I let go. I washed all the dogs, double checked everything and packed them all in my car. So nervous.

I got to Raven's and she was ready to go. Set the GPS and I played with my new G1 phone. It's pretty cool. It has GPS too but the battery runs out quick. We were checking the traffic on my phone. About two hours later, we hit the summit in stand-still traffic. A semi had rolled on the freeway and aparently some boats were damaged as well. It is memorial day weekend. Everyone was heading out to go camping and boating.

Two hours later we were traveling the speed limit again and finally made it to the house, I think around 10pm. Beautiful house. We even had our own room and each had our own bed! The pups stayed in Sandi's room, she snuggled with them most nights. They also had a crate to sleep.

Sandi has a black Dane named Mariah. She's a sweetheart. She shares the house with Nigel, a designer fluffy dog mix. He's a sweetheart. The house was awesome with a nice view. I love it. The back yard was what seemed like a 75 degree angle hill. Huge front yard. It was a really nice house.

So, next morning we packed up and met up with Sarah. She had all the crates and dogs set up as usual. She even had an extra crate for Khan and Stormy. They did so well!! Stormy took Reserve Winner's Bitch and Khan took Reserve Winner's Dog for the first day of showing. :) Check out the videos below.

Where's the Show Results?

Hmm... I haven't been able to figure out where the show results are from our first show. I think it's probably not up yet. :/ I just signed them up for the Puyallup show. Raven is spending time with her honey bunn that weekend so I'll be showing by myself and hopefully with help if needed. I hear Angela, Nike's human, will be there. :) She's really nice. Sarah's sister will be there too. YAY! I'm having fun learning how to do all of this. I hope the pups win points!

First Show

Their first show went very well. Seven took Reserve Winner's Dog and Stormy took Reserve Winner's Bitch beating an adult dog, Rudy.

Raven and I with the young boys:
Khan and Seven

Blitz and I then Nike, Blitz and Seven for Winner's Dog.

Stormy took Reserve Winner's Bitch. No points in those but that's a really good sign for them. Stormy beat an adult dog for it. She was also really calm through the whole thing. :) I think she is really going to be something. :)

Raven and Stormy:

We had a blast. We had set up some crates and had the dogs resting in them. They did really well. Stormy and Khan even shared a crate together. Someone also came up to Stormy and I and asked if she was a Jake daughter. She recognized her Mindaos head. The lady had Toby off springs, Jake's brother. She was there to admire Stormy, mostly but loved Khan and Seven as well.

Happy Gang

Take a close look at this pic. See how Stormy looks like she did something slick and sly? Well she managed to roll Khan into some freshly laid soft poo. I had to laugh because I can totally imagine Khan being pummeled all over it. I got to wash dogs today. :) No big deal at all since they are so easy.

I've been busting butt cleaning the house today. I've been a HUGE slacker and have a bunch of dishes left to do and more sweeping and moping. At least the dog room and Living rooms are done and the dog beds all clean. I got more treats from costco and they are all happy chewing on them on their freshly made beds. I think I could have kids someday but this is fine for now. And I'm sure a whole lot easier.

Check out happy Khan. He seems to think this is funny.

The Gang is All Here

Ha! The gang is all here. :) There's Nadia, Hank, Stormy and Khan. Aww.. what a super cute pack.

We went to class today and Stormy did really very well. I mean, Stormy did so well that she made me feel like she was really born to do all of this. She was actually really calm and fairly easy to handle. I am really liking her the more I work with her.

Khan has improved a lot. He's always done well in movement, it's just the part when the judge gets near that he completely looses all control and spazzes out. He's just such a happy, animated and excitable pup. He is really doing much better at all of this. Thank god for obedience classes.

We met puppy number 5 in class!! He's also looking very nice and still very different from the rest of the litter gang. He's slender with a Seven-ish, Hugo-ish head and big ears. He's a real cutie but definitely needs more work. He was sorta all over the place but still looking nice. Now that I've seen all the boys, I can honestly tell you that Khan is the shortest of the bunch. I just hope his withers hits the 23-25 inch range. At least he's taller than Stormy.

I hope we see Merckx (after the bicyclist, Edouard Louis Joseph, Baron Merckx) at the show this Sunday! I'm calling one of his owners soon to see if they will bring him and also ask which shows they will be attending. I hope the entire show litter makes it to the 2010 Nationals and win everything!

Lazy Sunday

We are just all here.. loungin' around on a lazy Sunday. I'm on-call so I'm hesitant in doing anything that would have me far from an internet connection. Bummer because it's such a gorgeous day and I would love to go biking with the pups again.

We went to Alki Beach yesterday for Storm's introduction to running with a bike and she did really well. It was great. Lots of scary distractions like skate boards, kids on tricycles, crowds, roller blades, other dogs.. etc. It was a great opportunity to learn to ignore all those things.

I notice too that she is much more relaxed today about noises. The neighbors are doing yard work with things that make loud sounds and she has learned to ignore them.. for the most part. She still looks concerned but at least no more of the barking. YAY! I'm not into barky dogs. :) Our goal this week it to get both of them used to the world and being examined by a judge. Khan still spazes out and gets excited.. but what can you expect.. he's a happy pup!

Nadia's new dress

I bought a dress for Stormy that Nadia borrowed today. I think it might be too small for Stormy anyway. Nadia didn't mind at all. She liked the dress and all the attention. :)

More on Stormy

Sunshine

The sun actually came out yesterday. It was dry all day. I was surprised. It was such a perfect day. Did I do anything? Umm... no, not really. I was pretty tired.

Today is dry so far with lots of clouds so it might rain later. In either case, I'd really like to get biking with the pups. I can't wait to get them running on the bike. I think Storm will pick it up real quick just by following Khan's lead. Hank will have to stay home as he has been doing a slight limp since yesterday after his nap. I think he may have pulled a muscle because I didn't see anything else that would cause him to limp. Maybe it's from the cramped car ride. Poor old man. It was his 7th birthday just the day before, on May 2nd. We celebrated with lots of treats, and lovins, and massages.

We took the car to Poulsbo this weekend and they all did very well. All piled on top of each other in the back seat, sliding around on the old leather. I don't know how that's all going to work when the pups are fully grown. I'll surely need a dog hauler by then.

Stormy is amazingly well behaved for just being here a week. She has a good handle on the daily routine already. She's even doing things I haven't explained like no going down the stairs without a leash and my permission. The pack really does teach each other. I'm glad she's been so easy. She really is "Perfect" Storm.

Stormy Head Type

I think Stormy's head will be more like this when she gets older.
